After packing my home, I received a bill for more than £800 for unspecified “extra services”. Every attempt to resolve this matter results in rude correspondence from the secretary. It has been 4 months now and they are threatening to destroy my belongings. Do not use this firm.
Top rate service from start to finish. We booked a full pack which was surprisingly good value and completely took the stress out of the move. It couldn't have gone smoother. Thank you!
Sonny and team were fantastic on the day and made a very stressful move seamless. He even took a fire door off it’s hinges so I could keep my sofa and not have to cut it up as it simply was got getting out of my flat otherwise. I’m truly grateful for his expertise on the day!
We have been happy, at every stage, with the service provided by Sussex Removals.
From January 2021 onwards they have taken care of our Brighton belongings – packing and storing them, also delivering them to London in three separate consignments to three different addresses – all done without a hitch, with courtesy and consideration. Highly recommended.
We hired them for a pack and move within a few weeks of our move date in July 2022. They came in on the day before with one truck and did a large portion of the packing. Then brought a second truck on the day of the move. Everything went smoothly and the staff were pleasant and hard working. They had a just get it done attitude and hardly stopped over the two days. I would recommend them and would use them again.
This company are helping the Ukrainian refugees by sending urgent supplies of clothing, food, etc funded by themselves. Well done. Commendable.
Not a great experience when trying to get compensation for a dropped record player. Took a month for them to pass my form on to their liability company. Then was told that the extended liability I took as protection didn't cover items not specifically packed by them. Bit of a get out I think, and a bit misleading. Just seems to allow them to chuck your stuff about with little repercussions? Still waiting for details of their complaints process. Also asked for details of their professional memberships, though they don't seem to belong to any professional associations (I did ask them to check). They are very quick to get you to complete a satisfaction survey after your move. But I would suggest you wait till you have fully unpacked. Or to just use another company?
Fantastic service provided and what must have been a nightmare time for them as everyone tried to move before the end of stamp duty!
Very friendly and polite and also very quick and professional
Thanks to the whole team
Despite a pre-move visit and assurances that all would be well our move was anything but straightforward. The removal men themselves were fine but the overall organisation was not. We elected for a pack and removal service. Day one seemed to go well but was not impressed when even I could see that our belongings would not fit in!
Assured everything was all right and that everything would go in. The lorry was loaded and the second van left part empty for the rest of our belongings for the next days team - that was news, it was meant to be pack and load in a day according to the schedule. We had moved out and ended up leaving a house key with the removal team.
Only later did we find that they had left our belongings in their unpacked van with our house keys under the seat, along with the vans keys which was left unlocked! this was because the next days packers were a subcontracted team from another company who took one look round the house, the space in the van and announced it would not all fit in! It didn't.
So we ended up driving twice from our Kent home to Devon and back to attend the final packing of the remaining items. Thankfully we were moving out a few days ahead of completion on our sale.
Most of the packing was fine but a number of the boxes were either mislabelled or simply not labelled and because they were re-used ended up in the wrong room because the first use labelling was not crossed out. This included a stereo amp and speakers ending up in the garden shed. It took two weeks to re-unite the castors from our sofa to the sofa and still have not found the screws from our dining room table. We'd paid for beds and furniture to be reassembled in our new home, we had to ask for that to be done as the two removers on the final stage of the move had simply had enough and just wanted to get home.
We chose Sussex Removals as they came recommended and I very much regret that decision. Instead of a 2-day pack, move and unload the whole event became protracted and involved two return trips between Kent & Devon as well as having to replan our whole schedule around the move - a disaster not of our making.
Fantastic service from a great team. Friendly, professional and good humoured, worked quickly and safely throughout the process. We are more than chuffed with this team who made the whole operation stress free from initial booking through to completion. Would highly recommend.
Brilliant service, a great hard working team, very friendly and polite, would definitely use again and recommend.
Good competitive price. Very professional removal team. Turned up on time, took care when loading the van, all furniture wrapped and protected. I will definitely use Sussex removals again and highly recommend them.
After some re-arrangements, the move was conducted efficiently. Driver was very helpful. Recommended service.
Very competent. Arrived at time stated, packed as necessary and covered all furniture ready for storage. Delivered furniture from storage, all goods carefully manoeuvred and no damage noted. Very polite and considerate.
My husband and I spoke to Joe on the phone on a Saturday, a week before our move to inquire if they would be available with a week's notice. He was very kind on the phone and asked thorough questions and told us the quote to move our 1 bedroom flat to a 3 bedroom house would be £210 as it would be hourly. He said he would send us an email on Monday to confirm but we were penciled in on that day.
Monday came and went with no correspondence so we called them at the end of the day and they said to use the quote calculator on the website, which we did even though we already had a quote. On Tuesday we received the quote in email for £450! When we called to inquire about it we were told that was the right quote and were never permitted to speak with Joe directly.
We turned down other removals companies over the weekend because we thought we were booked in for £210, only to find out 4 days before our move that we would have to pay £450. Of course, at this point, it's too late to book with anyone else, so we've had to book our own van and get a family member to drive it.
I should mention that we have very little furniture to move, with only flatpacked office desks and one double bed. On their quote form it only allows room for full sized furniture that isn't disassembled so of course it would be more expensive to do it that way. When we spoke with Joe we told him that everything would fit in a medium van as we don't have a whole lot. The fact that we had to turn to an impersonal quote form rather than speak with a live person is ridiculous. Our move will take 2 hours at the most, not a full day, and other companies were quoting around £250, which we missed out on because we chose to go with this company.
This company is extremely unprofessional and unresponsive - would not recommend.
The team were lovely both times I used them. I was offered boxes from them and they were very careful with all my items. They even came back to help me remove a washing machine which I didn't need and my landlord wanted me to remove. Both times we had really hot days and yet they remained cheerful and fast during the moves.
I may be moving next year, and would use them again without question!
