Another week has been and gone in a flash, and another barrage of homify articles took Malaysia by storm!

We've had a very mixed bag this week. Stunning staircases, inspiring terrace renovations and prefabricated houses tucked away in the woods were featured alongside modernist Japanese family houses and guides to getting your bathroom as clean as it can possibly be. But which projects were irresistible? Let's take a look at our weekly top five articles and revisit the best of the best!

Malaysian-inspired design

We know how proud Malaysians are of their country, and why shouldn't they be? Outstanding food, beautiful countryside, and bustling cities full of life – there's a lot to shout about! However, one aspect of modern Malaysia that often gets overlooked is the prevalence of truly outstanding architecture.

Our most popular article of the week paid homage to some of Malaysia's most innovative architectural minds. Taking inspiration from giants like Ken Yeang, Eleena Jamil, and Ng Sek San, we put together a comprehensive guide to designing your home based on the ideas and concepts of the nation's most famous architects. The magic of sliding doors

The space crunch is real, and its happening in cities across Malaysia. From Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru, it's becoming more and more difficult to find a large, affordable apartment. Instead, residents – and young professionals in particular – are having to settle for smaller homes. This can prove problematic, especially when most interior design guides are aimed at people with mansion-sized abodes.

We at homify like to look at interior improvement a little differently. Instead of wishing for things we don't have, we prefer to look for creative solutions to problems. That could be why our article on space-saving sliding doors was our second most popular article of the week. Want to see how much of a difference this small change could make to your home? A tremendous renovation effort

Everyone loves a good rags to riches story, especially when it focuses on the epic makeover of a shabby home! A beautiful renovation story makes us believe that anything is possible, and gives us hope that we, too, can drastically improve the quality of our home.

This Valencia apartment was a disaster before the architects at Scala Proyectos got their hands on it. Want to see how they brought this home back to life? See it here

Pretty pastels

Pastel colours featured heavily in the Pantone 2016 colour trend predictions, and it seems that style-conscious Malaysians were quick on the uptake! You loved this guide to decorating your home with this year's hot shades, and who can blame you? Each one of the interiors featured was more beautiful than the last!

This baby blue and powder pink Scandi-style living room was just the beginning. Ombre walls, fresh flowers, and bold colour accents all featured within this article – timeless style tricks that have been reinvented for this summer. Intrigued? Take a look at the top tips here!

A new look for an old home

Our last top five article of the week was this mesmerising apartment redesign.  This Japanese family home had seen better days – when the Homelatte designers got to it, it was cluttered, dusty, and badly arranged – a disaster zone not helped by the lack of storage and kids space!

In no time at all, they gave the space a new lease of life. Large French doors let the light flood in, and wall-to-wall bookshelves provide ample storage space. Be inspired – check out the whole apartment here!

We hope you enjoyed our weekly round-up! Don't forget to stay tuned for more incredible houses, apartments and guides. See you next week…
