How to arrange furniture in a small room

Shifting all or most of the furniture to one side works well whether the room is narrow or square. It can be quite challenging to arrange furniture in a small room when space is limited. One of the best ways of arranging furniture in a small, long room is at an angle. This is because the angular arrangement makes more space. It may also be a good idea to place your bed at an angle from a corner of the room to provide a path for foot traffic, and create the illusion of more space at the same time.  Pictured here, we see a table and a chair placed at an angle opposite a single seater. Generally, placing furniture against the wall or window rather than in the middle of the room can save a lot of space. Consider that the design of your furniture might be taking up too much space in your small apartment. Some pieces of furniture are simply over-sized and take up too much space, so you should probably stack them up against the wall, especially if they are light weight like the crates shown in this picture. As a general rule of thumb, stay away from heavily upholstered, bulky furniture as they tend to take up more space. Use furniture such as the ones pictured here instead and think vertical when it comes to other accessories like shelving and curtains. 

Last but not least, consider the size and layout of your furniture. It's always more challenging finding space for larger pieces of furniture compared to smaller pieces of furniture. So, consider replacing your large furniture with small ones or arranging them in a triangular fashion like in this image.
