They don't exclusively work with clients that have gargantuan homes to finish, yet still manage to create stylish, usable and enjoyable spaces, even in the smallest of properties and we want to show you how! It's all about using your proportions to your advantage and looking for innovative, space-saving solutions that will increase the practicality as well as the beauty of your rooms and we've found some great techniques for doing just that! For rooms that don't absolutely need a double bed, a single is a great way to free up a huge amount of floor space. You'll be able to add something handy too, like a chest of drawers!
Bedside tables are helpful, we all know that, but in a small bedroom, they can crate a really boxed-in feel. Mount shelves to your headboard instead and you'll still have somewhere for your books, a glass of water and some lamps, but extra floor space too!
If you have a bedroom that is wider than it is long, use that width! Even if it means having to embrace an unusual layout, you really need to work with what you have and just look at this example! It's still luxurious!
Choosing furniture that has hidden storage is a great idea for small bedrooms, as you can do away with bulky extra items and free up all of that floor space, which will make the room look and feel far larger. Divan beds really are your best friend in these situations and offer you somewhere to store bulky spare bed linen!
Don't think of sofa beds as a student home addition, as these days, they are super comfortable, gorgeous to look at and mean that when you don't need a bed, your room is a lot larger! They are built to last now as well, so invest seriously!
A steadfast solution for small bedrooms, beds that can fold away, up into the wall, such as Murphy beds, are amazing! When they aren't in use, all you have is a blank wall space, which looks spacious and free, but when you need them, a quick pull and there they are!
If your bedroom needs to act as a home office as well, that's a tall order for a small space! You can get around the issue, however, by making your bedside table extend and double up as a handy desk. Keep it simple and uncluttered and you'll hardly notice it's there!
We know this is tough, but to make small bedrooms easier to cope with, you do need to try and scale back on the belongings front! You don't need to get rid of everything, but it;s worth remembering that the less clutter you have, the bigger a room will look and the more luxurious it will feel.
