Renewing your apartment by yourself is a great idea, but at the same time, it's not always easy and sometimes doesn't guarantee good results. In order to avoid a catastrophe, you have to have a clear plan, assisted by a professional architect or decorator. They will certainly help you successfully implement your ideas, just like some of our architects helped these hammered homes.

We have gathered together five homes that have undergone incredible makeovers. By the end of this Ideabook, we bet you'll want to start planning your renovation and call a professional!

1. Before: completely demolished

This home project included the demolition of the interior walls in the process, which gave these architects more freedom to redesign. This image shows the entrance to the house in the foreground and the kitchen next to the balcony entrance.

The architects were given the opportunity to reconsider the distribution of areas according to the needs of the owner and the new design will end up making the space more dynamic.

Almost there…

Here's an image of the process at about the halfway point.

After: breathe and sunshine

In this picture, the kitchen and living room have become very bright areas. The white walls amplify light and create an open atmosphere.

The curvature of the walls and ceiling here also played a big role in giving the place a significant widening.

2. Before: get rid of the walls

The second project is also a renovation of the kitchen and living room, which was divided longitudinally by an unsightly wall. In a narrow space such as this, removing the wall really benefits the dialogue between rooms.

Let's see how this problem was remedied…

After: new contemporary space

This picture shows an incredible difference in style and utilization of space. With this open floor plan and this pearl white interior, we get a completely contemporary space.

The different shades of wooden accents add great colour variation to this classy abode.

3. Before: rickety house

In this home, it looks as if the ceiling is about to collapse. In order to save this home and put that gorgeous window to good use, or perhaps make them a bit better, a makeover was needed…

After: bright living

Wow! Now that is a step up from the previous window!

Pearl white walls, light brown hardwood floors, and deep coloured furnishings all contribute to a modern interior, and those high ceilings add warmth and comfort.

4. Before: close quarters

In this image, we see the home while it's under construction. The right half of it gives us a great preview of the living and kitchen space after the renovation.

The long corridor is now more elegant, spacious, and practical, and a wardrobe was built against the wall, along with a few shelves, to add more storage space.

After: classy chic

Here we have a better view of the space. The volume, classic white interior, and timelessly luxurious hardwood floors give the home distinct character.

5. Before: haunted home

Our last project is the renovation of a miserable 60 square metre apartment in Italy. This image gives us the impression of a haunted house, but after these architects got a hold of it, they were able to transform it into a comfortable home divided into three lovely sectors.

After: the kitchen and dining area

Here we have an incredible modern home with rustic accents. The all white interior with slight light wooden accents give us the feeling of being in a modern cabin, and the addition of the walls adds more privacy for the residents.

The bedroom

Here we have the bedroom. Isn't it much better to have a separation of spaces this way? Now these residents can rest while guests occupy the other areas.

The floor plan

On a final note, we leave you with the floor plan of the home. Here we can see the three parallel sections, one for the kitchen and common room, and the remaining two for separate bedrooms.
